Struggling With Consistency and Motivation

You start a new habit full of energy — maybe journaling, waking up early, exercising, learning a skill...
But after a few days? Motivation fades. The habit slips. You’re back to square one.

If that sounds familiar, you're not alone.
“How can I stay consistent?” is one of the most searched questions in self-development today.
And the truth is: Motivation is not your problem.
Your system is.

Today, I'm going to walk you through a simple but powerful 5-step method to build consistency — without relying on willpower alone.

Step 1: Start Incredibly Small (Yes, Smaller Than That)

The biggest mistake people make?
They try to change everything at once. But small wins lead to momentum.

What to do:

  • Want to start journaling? Start with 1 sentence.

  • Want to work out? Do 3 push-ups today.

  • Want to read more? Just open the book.

Why it works:
Small actions create a sense of success. That success builds identity. Identity builds habits.

Step 2: Use the "Don’t Break the Chain" Method

Track your progress with a visual habit tracker. Each day you complete your task, mark it. Your only job is to not break the streak.

Why it works:
Our brains hate losing progress. Seeing your streak grow makes you want to keep going.

Step 3: Set Identity-Based Goals

Instead of saying:

“I want to run 3 times a week”

Say:

“I am the kind of person who doesn’t skip runs.”

Why it matters:
When your actions match your identity, consistency becomes natural. You don’t need to force it — it becomes who you are.

Step 4: Use the 2-Day Rule

You’re human. You’ll miss a day. But don’t miss two in a row.

✅ Your mantra: “I never skip twice.”

Even if you do a shorter session, keep the streak alive. This builds resilience — not just discipline.

Step 5: Create Public or Social Accountability

Tell someone. Post your goal. Track it online.

✅ You can even join our free consistency circle (coming soon), where I’ll check in weekly with everyone building habits together.

Why it works:
When others know, you show up. Not for them — for you. Public commitment increases follow-through by up to 65%, according to research.

Final Thought

You don’t need more motivation.
You need a system that works when you don’t feel like working.

“It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently.” – Tony Robbins

You’ve got this. One small step today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow.
